Old Town Dubai, also known as Al Bastakiya, is a historic district located in the heart of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is one of the city's oldest residential areas and was built in the late 19th century by Iranian immigrants who settled in the area. The district is characterized by traditional Arab architecture, narrow alleys, wind-towers, and courtyards.
Old Town Dubai is home to a number of cultural and historical sites including Dubai Museum, the Al Fahidi Fort, and the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding. The district also features several art galleries, traditional markets (souks), and numerous cafes and restaurants serving authentic Arabian cuisine.
In recent years, Old Town Dubai has undergone significant restoration and preservation efforts, with many of its buildings and structures being revitalized, renovated, and repurposed for modern use. Despite its modernization, however, the district has managed to maintain its historical charm and remains a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.
